^Lot 489 Cannonball with large pieces of coral encrustation, ex-1715 Fleet, ex-Fisher and Holzworth (1965).

Cannonball with large pieces of coral encrustation, ex-1715 Fleet, ex-Fisher and Holzworth (1965). 8 lb total. Roughly 6" x 6" x 6", cannonball roughly 3½" diameter. Heavy composition of conserved medium-sized cannonball glued together with chunks of sedimentation, clearly fragile, but a great display piece with important old pedigree. From the 1715 Fleet, with original (small) hand-signed Mel Fisher certificate from 1965 countersigned by Shirley Holzworth, also with original June 12, 1966, newspaper excerpt (Dayton Leisure) featuring a two-page article (illustrated) about the 1715 Fleet salvage and mentioning a display that included this cannonball at the Third National Bank branch in Salem (Ohio).
